Artist Bio
My name is Gabriella Carrero, and I am a citizen designer born and raised in Florida. I am currently studying Graphic Design at FIU. I have participated in the DesignIsChange.org program, working with the nonprofit organization Dreamcatchers for the Soul to create and donate five posters supporting their mission.
I usually enjoy creating digital illustrations, but I have also been developing my painting skills. For my stencil project, I chose to illustrate a trash can character.
Artist Statement
I created a playful stencil featuring an angry trash can character with fists, delivering the message “FEED ME, KEEP CLEAN.” This character speaks directly to passersby, encouraging them to keep trash in its place and out of storm drains. The cartoonish style balances fun with urgency, while a simple sans-serif font wraps around the figure to guide the viewer’s eye from top to bottom, helping them fully engage with the message.
