Sergeline Chamorro
Artist Bio
I am a graphic design student at Florida International University, originally from Nicaragua. My work focuses on effectively informing and engaging audiences, with the primary goal of conveying messages through a thoughtful combination of illustration and text. I strive to communicate these messages clearly through the composition and layout of my posters.
To develop my work, I begin with brainstorming exercises to better understand the subject matter and gather information about the topics I want to depict. I then use sketches and thumbnails to visualize my ideas more clearly and refine them into strong final designs.
All of my projects aim to raise awareness about meaningful and often controversial topics, which I see as the central purpose of my artistic practice.
Artist Statement
My storm drain design features a whale tail rising from the water, symbolizing marine life that depends on clean oceans. Flowing wave lines represent ocean currents, illustrating how pollution from storm drains travels to the sea and harms wildlife. The message
“Be wise, don’t pollute our tides” urges people to take responsibility and protect our waterways.
