Artis Bio
Hello, my name is Lisbeth Genao, and I am a BFA Digital Arts and Graphic Design student in my final year at FIU. My practice as a designer combines digital and analog techniques to develop concepts and projects. By merging the possibilities of digital tools with traditional media, I create a conversation between both of my practices as a designer and an artist.
As a citizen designer, I believe that design has the power to impact society and bring about positive change. By combining creativity with purpose, I aim to contribute meaningfully to my community. I am grateful for the opportunity to use my skills to make a difference and look forward to continuing to explore the intersection of art, design, and social responsibility.
Artist Statement
I created a storm drain stencil with the City of Miami and partners to highlight
how urban waste flows into the ocean. The message “This drain goes to the
ocean” uses flowing shapes and playful, hand-drawn typography. The phrase “no waste” is shaped like a fish, symbolizing marine life affected by pollution and reminding viewers
to protect our waterways.
