Artist Statement
I’m Julia Cartaya, a Miami-based digital artist. In collaboration with the City of Miami, I created a storm drain stencil to raise awareness about pollution. The design features a plastic bottle shaped like a bomb, symbolizing the destructive impact of dumping waste. The message “Dumping plastic leaves drastic shores” warns against polluting waterways and encourages proper disposal near storm drains.
