Statement Describing the Concept:
My stencil design titled “Protect What Hops In” uses a playful frog to raise awareness about pollution entering Miami’s storm drains. The frog is shown flashing a peace sign while sitting in a ripple of water surrounded by trash specifically plastic bottles symbolizing the waste often found near or entering stormwater systems. I chose a frog because it's a recognizable, local species that depends on clean water, making it a strong symbol for environmental protection. The phrase “Protect What Hops In” combines humor and urgency, encouraging the public to think twice before littering. The stencil style is bold and simple for easy visibility and spray application, while the color version uses green and blue to emphasize nature and water.
