Elise Lopez- I am a citizen graphic designer at Florida International University. The storm drain stencil which is a collaboration with the City of Miami, Ocean Conservancy, and Shores Forward sheds light and awareness on the consequences of pollution in our oceans and waterways. The quote “Who came first? The plastic or the fish?” is a reflection statement on the amount of plastic that exists in most fish, and what that could mean for those who regularly eat fish. The main element and icon of my burger layer's depiction is the bottle that looks like a fish (insinuating it is made of plastic due to pollution).
