The design CRITERIA outlines key considerations for artists submitting proposals for this public art project at storm drain sites. The artwork must be replicable, durable for outdoor conditions, and effective in raising awareness about pollution. Paint designed to withstand heat, humidity, and water exposure will be used.
1. Scale and Fabrication
• The design should be suitable for conversion into a stencil format.
• The size for both stencil fabrication and final installation will be 2 feet by 2 feet.
• The design needs to show examples of how vectors will look on site.
2. Replicability and Execution
• The design must be simple and adaptable for easy replication and application at multiple storm drain sites.
• It should be feasible to execute the design across various locations while maintaining consistency.
• The design will be limited to two colors (TBD) to ensure clarity and consistency across all installations.

SELECTION
Professional Advisory Committee (PAC) Review.
The PAC is an independent group of professionals in art, art history, architecture, and architectural history. The PAC makes recommendations for acquisitions to the Art in Public Places Trust. Submissions are assessed on creativity, relevance, and alignment with project goals.
1. PAC reviews artist submissions based on conceptual sketches.
2. The PAC makes recommendations of four (4) shortlisted artists.
3. Shortlisted artists present to the Art in Public Places Board.
4. The Art in Public Places Board reviews the recommendations and approves the selection.
5. The Art in Public Places Board selects project finalist.

Budget
• Shortlisted Artists will receive a proposal honorarium of $500
• The finalist will be awarded $1000
