Artist Statement
This storm drain stencil raises awareness about plastic pollution and its impact on
marine life. It features three discarded water bottles, each containing a dead fish
symbolizing how single-use plastics can have deadly, long-term effects on ecosystems.
The message “Used once, lasts forever” emphasizes the lasting harm of plastic waste,
while “Stop throwing trash in the storm drain” urges the public to act responsibly. By placing this visual in urban spaces, the design encourages Miami residents to
protect local waterways.
