Artist Bio
My name is Carlos Garcia, and I’m a BFA student in Graphic Design with an interest in Art History. First and foremost, I am an artist. Alongside this identity, I take on the roles of problem-solver, illustrator, designer, and visual developer.
I am multicultural, having been born in Venezuela and sharing Chilean and Uruguayan roots. Living in South Florida, my Latino heritage has always been an essential part of who I am and serves as an important asset in engaging with my local community. I am also a citizen designer, deeply concerned with social progress and the ways in which design can serve and benefit our community.
Artist Statement
My design expresses urgency about the environmental crisis through bold, angular typography in a “pseudo-Futurist” style. The phrase “Our Waters, Our Lives” flows over jagged storm surge waves flooding a city, symbolizing the immediate threat of
pollution and rising waters. It calls for urgent community action to protect our planet’s future.
