Artist Bio
Amanda Gonzalez is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in Hialeah, Florida. With a foundation in graphic design and a growing passion for the sciences—particularly chemistry—Amanda explores the intersection of creativity and critical thinking in her work.
Her artistic practice centers on storytelling, found materials, and visual puzzles that invite audiences to engage deeply and reflect on larger social themes. Amanda’s work often blends playful, accessible visuals with a strong sense of empathy and purpose. She is especially drawn to projects that raise awareness and foster connection, using art as a way to spark conversation and shed light on overlooked issues.
Currently transitioning from design into the sciences, Amanda views creativity as a tool not bound by discipline—one that can challenge perspectives, solve problems, and inspire change. Examples of her previous work have been included in this proposal for your review.
Artist Statement
This storm drain design uses bold ocean imagery and the pun “Don’t Be Shellfish
– Keep Your Trash to Yourself” around a stylized shell to highlight the impact of
littering. Its playful yet serious message reminds viewers that trash in storm drains
harms marine life. Stencil-style lettering and strong blue tones make the design
clear and approachable in public spaces, encouraging responsible behavior.
