Alyssa Greaves
Artist Bio
My artwork is inspired by media that captivates me, often drawing from fantasy and folklore. I create illustrations that depict enchanting environments and imaginative subjects. I work in both digital and traditional mediums—using an iPad or drawing tablet for digital pieces, and incorporating gouache, acrylic paint, colored pencils, and other materials for traditional works.
Although the materials and techniques I use may vary, each piece contributes to a broader exploration of whimsical narratives, inviting my audience into a world of wonder and imagination. As I continue to create, new inspirations emerge, allowing me to further expand my artistic vision.
Artist Statement
For this project, I focused on pollution’s impact on marine life. I began by
considering animals native to Miami, Florida manatees and alligators came to
mind first. I ultimately chose the manatee as the centerpiece of my design. Using a
silhouette of the manatee, I incorporated bits of trash within its body to emphasize
how pollution affects marine ecosystems.
